Every physical imbalance that we experience as some dis-ease has at its root an energetic imbalance. This is not any kind of pseudoscience, but the nature of science at the deepest core of existence. All seemingly physical objects and non-physical substances, including living tissues, are made up of atoms, which at their core are made up of energy. **Every food, drink, fragrance, chemical substance, and part of nature has its own energetic frequency that affects us in a positive, negative, or neutral way whenever we come into contact with it. The more in tune we are with ourselves, the more we can sense and remedy an energetic imbalance when it arises, and heal the root cause before it spreads into the physical layers of our being. It is easier and faster to change an energetic state than a physical state. The more we live in a state of awareness of our physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health, the more we receive instant feedback from our bodies and our environments to let us know when an imbalance occurs.
Such energetic imbalances come on as different sensations and feelings of discomfort. It can be cramping in the abdomen after having a confrontation with someone, or tightness in the chest upon learning some difficult news, or a headache after spending time in a room with strong synthetic fragrances. If we are present to these sensations, we hold the power to clear the imbalance caused by the energetic trigger (person, substance, environmental conditions, etc.). This may be through rest or detox, nourishment, avoiding the trigger, or simply a change in perspective about the situation to reframe it in a more conducive way for us. However, each time we dismiss these sensations, they accumulate and begin to manifest in stronger physical ways to get our attention that something requires change and healing.
All Disease Originates in You
Health is determined by the quality and balance of our internal environment - mind and body, which are directly supported or negated by our lifestyle choices. A lot of people know the right thing to do, but few actually do it. Most people think that disease or lack of health is due to external factors beyond their control, which is why a large portion of the population lives in fear, not realizing that they are in charge of their health outcomes.
There is no disease that we acquire after birth, whether in childhood or adulthood, that is random, a coincidence, due to “bad luck” or “bad genes”. Imbalanced living, which primarily consists of destructive thinking, overwhelming stress responses, poor nutrition/unhealthy eating, chemical-laden lifestyles or extreme chemical exposure, insufficient sleep, insufficient movement, lack of sunlight, lack of fresh air, unsanitary living conditions, impaired detox pathways, and accumulation of toxins in the body, all set the stage for the creation of disease. Our modern, unnatural lifestyles, which are full of digital, artificial, synthetic, and chemical components, are essentially the opposite of what it takes to have a healthy mind and body. They subject us to eating too much food, eating the wrong food, not eating the right food, sleeping too little, moving too little, having too little outdoor time in the sun and fresh air, working too much, spending time indoors too much, subjecting ourselves to too many chemicals via things like personal care products, pharmaceuticals, polluted air, polluted water, household products, industrial pollutants, and even our clothes, as well as living in mental states that are full of fear, anger, outrage, jealousy, shame, and despair, which are the most destructive to our health.
Whenever any kind of mental, emotional, physical, or chemical imbalance arises in the body due to the accumulation of the above risk factors, we experience symptoms. If we do not pay attention to the symptoms and make an effort to reverse them by appropriate lifestyle changes and/or if they overwhelm the body past its coping abilities and/or if they are suppressed with pharmaceutical or recreational drugs and/or if the same mental, emotional, physical, and chemical exposure and habits continue, the symptoms become grouped into what we call a disease.
Energetic imbalances, which we call disease, can manifest as physical conditions within minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years. It all depends on the strength and/or duration of exposure to the imbalancing force, our constitution, our sensitivity, our resilience, and our perception and response to any of the factors that can cause the human body to become imbalanced.
It is essential to point out that no single thing is the cause of any of our diseases; all diseases are multifactorial. This means that several imbalancing factors come together to cause an imbalance in our bioenergetic field that then spills over to our physical body.
For example, you do not get cancer from just having emotional trauma, or from just eating poorly, or from just being subjected to some carcinogenic substance. One gets cancer when their body becomes overwhelmed by too many imbalancing factors, with the root cause coming from their emotional state of being that eats away at the body’s bioenergetic field the most. For this reason, modern medicine’s efforts to find a cure for cancer are futile. They are treating cancer as if it stems from some one cause that can be corrected pharmaceutically in the body. The reality is completely the opposite in the case of cancer, which is the most multifactorial disease we have, in which emotional trauma plays a starring role. While one must examine ALL aspects of their lifestyle and take steps to reverse the imbalancing forces, they must also confront any emotional trauma that they experienced in their life as part of healing their cancer at the root level. In many, if not most, cancers, such emotional trauma comes from forms of mental, physical, verbal, and/or sexual abuse, which completely overwhelms the body’s defenses and causes a chronic system breakdown over time. Pharmaceutical drugs will never be able to heal human beings on the level of the mental, emotional, and spiritual realm, where such trauma resides.
The same goes for simpler conditions, such as a cold or flu or other so-called infections. Contrary to popular belief, these are not caused by some external “bugs” that we “catch” but are states of detox the body activates when too many imbalancing factors compound in our life and overwhelm our balancing and coping mechanisms.
To be in a state of health, our body must maintain its balanced bioenergetic field, which then influences the workings of every cell, tissue, and organ. Whenever any breakdown occurs in our defenses against imbalancing factors and is not corrected, the body activates a group of symptoms (“disease”) in an attempt to remedy the imbalance. The group of symptoms or disease you express through your body depends entirely on your constitution, meaning your unique physical, emotional, and functional traits that influence your health and susceptibility to diseases. This is why we should never ever compare our health to anyone else’s. It does not matter what lifestyle they have or disease they get or don’t get; that is all influenced by their personal constitution, which is not yours. To deal effectively with your health, you need to pay attention to your mind and body, and how they are affected by all the things in your daily life.
For these reasons, unless your condition is severe or a matter of life and death, it is not advisable to mask the symptoms our bodies give us with synthetic substances. To work with, not against, our body, and get to the root of any health problem, true healing requires that our attention and efforts be put into rebalancing our body with what it needs to thrive as a human being. Again, think proper nourishment, sleep, movement, air, sun, stress relief, toxin reduction, etc. In addition, you can add holistic healing modalities that support the body rather than suppress symptoms, such as herbs, acupuncture, homeopathy, fasting, chi gong, bodywork, and light therapy.
The risks of taking pharmaceutical drugs, which always come with negative side effects, whether you are consciously aware of them or not, reside the most in how they suppress the body’s symptoms and interfere with its natural healing ability. Some of the most common drugs, such as anti-depressants, antibiotics, cholesterol drugs, blood pressure drugs, cancer drugs, and vaccines, cause some of the most serious secondary effects and cause further imbalance in our bodies and minds.
Consider, for example, the common cholesterol problem that is prevalent in our society today. If your body indicates that your cholesterol levels are too high, the right answer is to reverse that imbalance with lifestyle changes rather than continuing to do what caused the problem in the first place and trying to suppress the problem with cholesterol drugs, pretending it does not exist. By doing this, you are only driving the diseased state deeper, while subjecting yourself to undesirable side effects.
Therefore, before you consent to taking any drugs, be sure that you know full well all the possible side effects they come with and whether taking the drug is worth the risk when other modes of treatment and prevention that have no risks or are low-risk are almost always available.
The Symptoms Your Body Expresses Are Not Your Enemy
Taking some time to learn your body’s language is one of the most valuable things that you can do for your health and your quality of life. Our bodies are constantly communicating with us through how we feel, trying to make us aware of any imbalances that need our attention. Giving us symptoms is the most direct and loudest way our body can get our attention, telling us that something is out of balance in how we are living.
Symptoms give us a chance to pause, reflect, and course correct. As such, until we treat symptoms as welcome guiding signs, rather than as unwelcome annoyances that must be eradicated as quickly as possible, we miss the opportunity to stop creating states of disease within us. Symptoms that are ignored or suppressed accumulate as the body tries to adapt to new imbalances, creating bigger problems down the road. The more layers of “disease” we accumulate, the less we are able to connect the dots between the causes of our lifestyle choices and our mental states and their effects.
Many common symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, fevers, sneezing, blowing out mucus through the nose, and coughing up phlegm are all detox symptoms. Your body is using any of these pathways to try to clear itself of a buildup of waste. The waste products could have accumulated from your diet, your environment, and/or your stress responses. To prevent bigger problems, the body activates its deep-cleaning mechanism. This is the time to support your body by giving it lots of rest, hydrating well with water, doing mindful breathing exercises (slow, gentle breathing - opposite of stress breathing), fasting or eating light, nourishing foods, and reflecting on processing any emotional stresses. This is not the time to try to plow through, pretend the symptoms do not exist, and try to suppress them using various pharmaceuticals. Of course, one must always consider their symptoms in the context of their specific health needs and conditions to make the most responsible and appropriate choices.
Either way, making friends with your body, learning its language, and respecting its intelligent design is something we are gravely lacking in our drug-obsessed society today. Sure, it is not always easy, and it is a lifelong learning process, but taking responsibility over your health like this puts you in the driver’s seat and releases you from a victim mindset. You also dissolve the fear that is tied to disease in our society because fear stems from feeling vulnerable and not in control, which only works if we believe that disease comes from forces outside of our control, which it does not. As a result, you go through life in an empowered state of being, knowing that your health is shaped by the choices you make on physical, chemical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic levels. And you also know that symptoms are not a sign of failure, but just a signpost that gives us an opportunity to realign ourselves with what our bodies and minds require to thrive.
Concluding Thoughts
So the next time you experience physical discomfort, examine your lifestyle choices and your psychological well-being. To trace the problem to its root cause, you need to inventory the imbalancing influences in your life.
- What emotional situations and states have you been in recently?
- What thoughts have been most prevalent for you?
- What traumas are you not dealing with?
- What stresses are overwhelming you?
- How much sleep, rest, movement, sunlight, and fresh air have you been getting?
- How toxic or nourishing are your foods and drinks?
- What damaging physical, chemical, or energetic substance(s) have you subjected yourself to recently and/or in the past?
- How chaotic is your day-to-day life?
- How much meaning and purpose have you been feeling?
- What is the quality of your relationships, your work, and community connections?
Symptoms do not come for no reason. They are always a sign of things we are neglecting or ignoring that lead to states of mental, emotional, and physical imbalance. By taking on such inner reflection, you will learn some amazing things about yourself and your life. You will get insight into what is working and what is not. You will face your choices more mindfully and consider how they have been impacting you. As much as you can during such periods, try not to use means of suppression but rather learn to work with your body and mind for effective expression. Have the courage to face what needs facing and give yourself the necessary time and steps to heal and re-balance. You can take a little time now to address small health problems, or end up taking a lot of time in the future if they are neglected and become big problems. The good news is that it is never too late, no matter how old you are and how many symptoms or disease labels you have. Your body is always ready and willing to heal. We just have to stop working against it and acknowledge our role in creating the emotional and energetic roots that become our diseases.
To wrap up, here are 5 rebalancing things you can do to work with your body naturally and create a healthy lifestyle in the process:
- Re-balance your breath. Many symptoms result from improper breathing. This means you need to slow your breathing to deepen it and offset the shallow, rapid breathing associated with the stress response, which can cause an imbalance of gases in your body and lead to states of oxidation and inflammation. This also means being aware that most indoor environments are full of toxins and pollutants and have poor air quality. Airing out your house, avoiding synthetically fragranced products, and getting out into the fresh air each day are essential for optimal health.
- Re-balance your state of hydration . Many symptoms result from improper drinking. Skip the sodas, juices, and, most of all, the caffeinated and alcoholic drinks, as well as those that include any artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors. Focus instead on properly hydrating your body with pure, high-quality water. Most of your water should be consumed in the early part of the day and then sipped throughout the rest of the day as needed, depending on your activity levels, climate, and health needs.
- Re-balance your movement. Many symptoms result from poor circulation, lymphatic stagnation, muscle tension, and muscle atrophy resulting from a lack of movement or improper movement. Avoid prolonged sitting, especially in tension-generating positions. Create little breaks throughout the day to stretch and move around a bit to release tension and improve circulation. In addition, engage in longer periods of physical activity each day to build and/or maintain your muscles. Do muscle-relaxation exercises, such as PRM, yoga, and chi gong, to help release tension in the body and move stagnant or blocked energy.
- Re-balance your sleep. Many symptoms result from a lack of sleep and poor quality sleep. First, examine your bedroom to ensure it is dark enough for quality sleep at night, well-ventilated, and free of any aromas or sounds that can interfere with sleep. Sometimes, it is also essential to consider where we live, such as high-noise environments, and consider steps you can take to minimize the interrupting sounds or move to a different place for the sake of your health. Second, examine your sleep schedule. As long as you do not have a nighttime job or young children who depend on you, aim to be in bed by 9pm and asleep by 10pm. This helps you work with your body’s natural circadian rhythm, sleep cycle, and take advantage of some of the most important sleep hours. For your health, avoid working or spending time online (social media, video games, etc.) late into the night, as this robs you of essential sleep hours your body depends on for proper balance, rejuvenation, and healing.
- Re-balance your nourishment. Many symptoms result from diets deficient in nutrients and overloaded with sugars, plant oils, animal fats and proteins, refined flours, artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, artificial flavors, and preservatives. Human diets that best support, nourish, and heal the body are based on real food, mainly fresh fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, nuts, seeds, real grains, and mushrooms. When we eat just enough to meet our metabolic needs rather than overeat, we help maintain the body in its optimal weight, which then positively impacts all other areas of our physical and mental health. Eating adequate, regular meals, avoiding snacking between meals, and incorporating some regular fasting are habits that lay the foundation for optimal health, as they help keep your hormones, organs, tissues, and cells functioning at their best.
Seize the power you hold over your health by making your mind and body your top priorities, and always supporting their natural balancing and healing abilities.
