Fats are essential to our weight, health, and overall wellbeing, but in recent decades a lot of misinformation has come out about them. The pendulum has swung between low fat and high fat, between saturated and unsaturated fats many times over. But as heart disease continues to impact a large percentage of the world’s population, decreasing both our life quality and quantity, it is vital we make sense of fats and how to utilize this nutrient group most optimally for our health.

In this class, optimal wellbeing teacher, [Evita Ochel](https://www.evitaochel.com] will be providing a foundation about fats for attending learners. She will be explaining the differences between saturated and unsaturated fats, omega-3 and omega-6 fats, as well as the difference between fats and oils. Also covered will be the full story about the “low-fat” and “zero-fat” fads, as well as the “low fat” and “high fat” dietary recommendations by various health experts. You will also learn the practical side of fats such as which oils are the healthiest for our needs, which oils are best to cook with, and which brands are most reputable.
